Why do Nigerians in diaspora always very very stingy?

I have these set of brothers overseas. Few years ago I needed $300 (three hundred only). Could you believe that none of my brothers in USA could afford that?

One told me that he just bought a new car and he is yet to pay for it. The other, that the father in-law is late. He needs money for the burial

Do you think these guys are really stingy? Or what?
